Prominent entertainment critic Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo strongly denies allegations that gospel musician Sonnie Badu staged his recent accident to gain publicity before his “Rhythms Of Africa” concert on December 9, 2023, at the Grand Arena.
During a panel discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, December 16, 2023, Asamoah-Baidoo pointed out that these allegations have no basis and hold no truth, especially for those who truly know Sonnie’s personality and dedication towards his work.
The respected expert emphasized that Sonnie Badu has a track record of delivering impressive performances without relying on flashy tricks or gimmicks. Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo highlighted the fact that Badu is the only gospel artist in Ghana who is able to attract large audiences to stadium concerts solely based on his exceptional musical talent, without relying on any gimmicks to gain attention.
Recognizing the widespread use of such methods in the music industry in Ghana, Asamoah-Baidoo admitted that doubt could arise, but he stressed that he was surprised until he obtained supporting evidence from Sonnie Badu personally. Asamoah-Baidoo responded to questions about Badu’s performance despite the reported injury, explaining that Badu was able to manage the pain with medication, which enabled him to give an excellent performance at the event.
The incident, which was first reported online, described Badu’s accidental fall on the stairs while doing household chores. This resulted in a foot injury that required immediate surgery at Leicester Hospital.
