Starting from the academic year 2023/2024, the University of Ghana (UG) plans to remove students from the Colleges of Basic and Applied Sciences, Education, and Humanities who have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) lower than 1.00.
According to Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), undergraduate students who fail to meet the required minimum CGPA to advance to the next level of study will be expelled from the university.
The Academic Affairs Directorate of the UG has issued a notice stating that students in level 200 and level 300 who have received their examination results for all the courses they registered for in the academic year 2022/2023 and have obtained a CGPA lower than the minimum requirement set by their college can anticipate receiving official withdrawal letters from the University through their Official UG email addresses in the near future.
If you have already paid your tuition fees for the academic year 2023/2024, you can receive a refund if you request it.
The notification additionally mentioned that the UG acknowledges the importance of this statement and offers an open invitation to students in need of assistance or with inquiries to reach out to their respective College Academic Affairs Office.
An announcement specifically for the College of Health Sciences will be made at an appropriate time.
This announcement has taken many students by surprise, particularly those who are facing difficulties in their academics.
