Dela Anim, a man without a job, is searching for a passenger who accidentally left behind an amount of money exceeding GH¢100,000 while traveling in a taxi.

This happened one year later from the time a taxi driver named Akwasi Ackon gained the admiration of numerous Ghanaians for his act of integrity. He returned ¢8,400 that he had found in his car to its rightful owner, who happened to be a fishmonger.

During the Adom FM midday news show, Dela mentioned that he hailed a taxi from the Mobile filling station in Nima and rode it to Abossey Okai, stating that Kasiebo is Tasty. In the middle of the trip, he discovered a dark blue plastic bag in the rear seat of the vehicle. Curious, he decided to open it and discovered that it contained a significant amount of cash.

Nevertheless, he opted to keep the money a secret from the taxi driver and instead took it to the Adom FM studios. I lacked confidence in the taxi driver’s willingness to give back the money had I informed him about it.

Furthermore, I had no desire to hear any tales from him, so I chose not to share my thoughts with anyone. He recounted, “I examined the currency at the front desk and discovered that it amounted to GH¢105,000.00.”

In addition to the money, Dela mentioned that he discovered a key, a list, and an ID card inside the bag. According to him, these items may be useful in determining the person who owns the bag.

When questioned about his decision not to keep the money, despite the ongoing economic crisis and his lack of employment, Dela explained that his moral code was the driving factor behind his choice.

I used to have a transportation company, but unfortunately, it failed, leaving me without a job and reliant on the kindness of my family for my survival. He said that being raised in a Christian and Presbyterian household, his parents instilled in him and his siblings the value of not taking things that do not belong to them. This lesson has continued to shape their lives.

Dela mentioned that he does not anticipate receiving any compensation for his kind act, but if the owner is located, he will be open to accepting any form of reward.
