Frank Aboagye Danyansah, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Agency (GREDA), has proposed that the government moves individuals affected by the flood caused by the Akosombo Dam to the Saglemi housing project situated in the Ningo Prampram district.

Numerous individuals living in various towns in the North and South Tongu areas of the Volta Region have been forced to leave their homes due to floods resulting from the overflow of water from the Akosombo and Kpong dams.

In a discussion on the morning talk show ‘Kuro yi mu nsem’ on Nhyira FM, Nana Jantuah interviewed .Mr. Danyansah mentioned that it would be beneficial to move the communities that have been impacted, taking into account the capacity of the area to accommodate the residents.

“They have the option to be transported to Saglemi and other cost-effective housing in the Kpone-Katamanso area.” “And now, let’s assess the level of assistance that will be provided,” he commented. He believes that Saglemi is relatively close to the flooded communities, making it the ideal solution.

These structures are located in Saglemi. The distance from Akosombo to Saglemi is quite far, but not an incredibly long distance. He stated that it would be extremely beneficial if we could transport a large number of people to Saglemi if we choose to relocate them.

Mr. Danyansah believes that the chiefs of the impacted regions will be in favor of this idea if it is proposed to them. I have confidence that the chiefs desire a solution that will endure for a significant period of time.

He stated that if they are sent to Saglemi and stay there for a prolonged period, they may be given the opportunity to permanently reside there as it is owned by the country.

Danyansah firmly believes that the best way to address the flooding problem is by modifying the structure of the dam so that the water can be directed through various channels.
