On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft showcased 11 stowaways who were caught on a Guangzhou Highway Panama ship that was en route to Ghana.

The individuals who snuck onto the ship claimed that they believed the ship was heading towards Europe. In order to find better opportunities, they made the decision to leave their own country and follow the ship.

Lieutenant Commander Ayobami Tunde-Alli, who was representing Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, the Commander of NNS Beecroft, informed the press that the stowaways were apprehended by the patrol team of NNS Beecroft at approximately 7pm on Tuesday.

Tunde-Alli announced that on Thursday, the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft patrol team handed over certain individuals to the Nigerian Immigration Service in Apapa. He mentioned that these individuals were intercepted by the patrol team during a routine patrol on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at around 7pm.

They were found in hidden areas at the stern gate of the Guangzhou Highway Panama ship, which was traveling to Ghana. As a result, the Western Regional Control Centre was quickly notified and instructed the ship to stop within the anchorage of Lagos.
