The Ghana Premier League has no future – Sulley Muntari

Date:

Former Liberty Professionals and Hearts of Oak midfielder Sulley Muntari has described the Ghana  Premier League as a fiasco and cast doubt on its potential for growth.

Having played for Liberty Professionals early in his career before leaving the shores of Ghana, Muntari returned after a successful stint abroad to feature for Hearts of Oak in the 2021/2022 season.

However, after two separate stints in two separate eras he is convinced that the league project is a sham that lacks professional standards.

“The league is a big hole where they are dumping money. There is no future for the Local league.

“I am hoping I can get some funds to help them because its a mess.

“Maybe now its worse and it leaves you wondering.

“If we do not help these guys how will we have top players for the Black Stars.” he told 3 Sports in an interview.

He complained about basic facilities and courtesies required to help a professional football environment function properly.

“The changing rooms smell. That respect is not there. I didn’t even want my laundry done. I would take it home. When you get into changing rooms, they smell bad. It is not just one team. Everybody.”
