The Accra High Court is scheduled to make a verdict on December 4, 2023, to determine the guilt or innocence of En Huang, who goes by the name Aisha Huang, in relation to charges of engaging in illegal mining.
Justice Mrs Lydia Osei-Marfo scheduled a date, following the notification by both the prosecution and the defense counsel, regarding the exchange of their final legal arguments (addresses) in court. Innocent or not responsible.
Aisha Huang is allegedly a central figure involved in the illegal mining activities known as galamsey, primarily in the Ashanti Region. In 2018, she was sent out of Ghana as she was no longer put on trial for allegations of illegal small-scale mining without a license, as per the decision of the Attorney-General.
Nonetheless, it was reported that she managed to return to Ghana secretly, supposedly to partake in the identical actions that led to her deportation. The
Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, subsequently opted to press charges against her for the reported offenses both before she was deported and for any additional crimes committed after her return to Ghana.
The prosecution argues that Aisha was involved in illegal mining in Bepotenten, located in the Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region.
Additionally, she operated a company that provided support services for mining activities.
