Tanker drivers are accusing the Minister of Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako-Attah of neglecting his duties in constructing and refurbishing roads.
The drivers who have declared a strike over the poor roads say the deplorable nature of the roads poses a threat to their lives due to the volatile nature of the contents they transport.
“Our target is not the President but the Minister of Roads who has neglected his duties,” National Chairman of the Union of Tanker Drivers, George Nyaunu, told TV3’s George Kwening while justifying their strike.
The industrial action commenced on Monday, June 26
Drivers operating within the Tema Heavy Industrial area said that until they see the roads awarded to a contractor, they are not carting fuel.
The strike is impacting the business of traders within the enclave, Kwening further reported.
