Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale, who has won awards, has been instructed to pay $120,000 plus $10,892.47 in interest to the organizers of Wildaland Festival for failing to perform at the event in December 2021.
The court has also ordered him to pay GHc 20,000 in damages. This legal action was taken after Shatta Wale did not show up for the festival despite receiving full payment. The festival’s founder, Sadiq Abudulia Abu, expressed dissatisfaction with the musician’s breach of the agreement, leading to the court case.
The court, presided over by Her Ladyship Afi Agbanu Kudomor J., has ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Maverick Entertainment, granting them the full payment along with the accrued interest.
