He was enstooled as the new chief upon the passing away of the then chief on 24th November 2020.

He also happens to be a board member of Nzema kotoko fc in the Ghana division one.

Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III was on Dwaso Nsem Ghana’s no1 radio station adom 106.3 with hosted by Chief Jerry Forson.

the purpose for this particular interview with Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III was based on the popular fight against galamsey in Ghana and especially the local communities or the communities with gold.

The nzema community specifically Esiama is one of the towns to talk about when it comes to gold mining.

In Ghana, when it comes to the issue of galamsey, most of the attention are directed to the chiefs because they owned the various lands on which these illegal mining is taken out and they play a major role.

Most of the people living in Esiama are farmers and fishers.

the amazule River in Esiama is one of cleanest river in Ghana and tourist visits that river almost everyday.

Ankobra is also one of the rivers in land of Nzema people.

the current state of thr ankobra river is as a result of the illegal mining, Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III added.

according to Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III, the Eastern Nzema traditional council paramount Chief, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinle III has not been in support of the illegal mining and has been fighting against it. In most of the council meetings, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinle III makes it clear that he doesn’t want any of the chiefs to engage in such activities.

We Ghanaians are hypocrite when the issue of galamsey pops up. Whenever this pops up the , unemployment increases, rivers are destroyed and also lands are lose their original shape causing problems in the local communities therefore what are the chiefs doing about it.

we know in the laws that the chiefs are the custodian of the land but the president of thr Republic has the mandate to decide where gold or mining activities are carried out, Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III said.

Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III made a shocking revelation and I quote ” I was there some few weeks ago and somebody came with a paper that he has been granted permission to carry out some mining activities off which I decline because I had no idea where that was coming from”

just recently, the central regional House of chiefs appealed to the government to involve the chiefs in the fight against galamsey.

Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III added that involving the chiefs in the fight against illegal mining should be backed by Parliament he added.

the idea of the president to fight against galamsey is really a good initiative no doubt about that.
