My Government Will Not Tolerate Arrogance Or Disrespect Toward The People Who Elected Us – Mahama Warns Newly Sworn-In Ministers

Date:

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to his newly sworn-in ministers, making it clear that arrogance and disrespect toward Ghanaians will not be tolerated under his administration. Speaking at the Jubilee House on January 22, 2025, during the swearing-in ceremony of six ministerial appointees, the President emphasized that public servants must lead with humility and accountability.

“We must exhibit tolerance for their views and work to meet their aspirations. This government will not tolerate arrogance or disrespect for the people who elected us into office. Modesty and prudence must be the guiding principles upon which you, myself, and our Vice President fashion our governance,” he declared.

President Mahama reminded the appointees that their authority comes from the people and urged them to prioritize the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians. “As I pointed out during my inaugural speech, Ghanaians have, through their votes, declared their intention to demand the highest standards of governance, and we cannot afford to fail them,” he said.

The President also stressed the importance of transparency and fairness in their dealings, warning that anti-corruption institutions would be empowered to investigate and take action against any wrongdoing. “The people of Ghana will hold us accountable for the trust they have placed in our hands. It cannot be business as usual. We must be transparent and fair in all our dealings,” he added.
