Ministerial vetting: Some questions to nominees lacked depth –  Franklin Cudjoe

Date:

The Founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has expressed disappointment with some of the questions posed to nominees during the vetting process.

So far, the vetting process has spanned a few days and involved a thorough examination of each nominee’s qualifications and suitability for their respective positions.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, January 22, Mr Cudjoe criticised some of the questions posed to the nominees.

“I think I wouldn’t necessarily say the questions are not the best, probably the questions were not well prepared,” he remarked.

While he praised some of the questions asked, he criticised others, describing them as routine and lacking depth.

“There were a few flashing lights of excellence from some of the ministers, for instance, the lady Abena, who had been at the Ministry of Finance before and had some context. But for most others, they were just normal, usual questions and there was no sense of trying to critique and get into the detail of what was actually said. Well, I was a bit disappointed,” he noted.

He also commended questions posed by the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, specifically citing some of the questions he asked Mr Ato Forson.

“Those questions I thought were very interesting, particularly the ones about the explanation to be given regarding the 24-hour economy, the modelling that has been done, and how it will enhance the growth of the country. At least Ato should know by now that the 24-hour economy… depends on certain modelling around specific real sectors, which he said would matter,” he said.
