John Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his views on the current discussion in Ghana regarding the significance of a Dutch passport compared to a PhD.

Mahama credits the economic challenges and inadequate governance of the present administration, under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as the cause of the debate.

These are the key points that Mahama discussed in his statement:

He stresses that this discussion is unnecessary because there is no justification for equating a Dutch passport with a PhD. He attributes Ghana’s widespread feeling of hopelessness and lack of faith in the country’s future to the current government’s mishandling of the economy, acts of corruption, and excessive squandering of national resources.

He asserts that due to the existing economic challenges, people have started to doubt the worth of their educational and career endeavors.

He emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the restoration of optimism and trust in the future of the nation by improving governance and effectively utilizing resources.

He asserts that individuals accountable for the present economic difficulties should not be trusted with the presidency. He thinks that truth and honesty should be the primary focus of leadership in Ghana and Africa in order to maintain democracy.
