The process of counting the ballots for Tuesday’s elections began in Liberia, while voting at a few centers extended beyond the expected timeframe due to the occurrence of heavy rainfall.
According to Davidetta Browne Lansanah, the chairperson of the National Elections Commission, voting encountered difficulties in the beginning because of a significant number of enthusiastic Liberians showing up to vote.
She shared this information with reporters in Monrovia, the capital, and mentioned that voting officially ended at 6:00 p.m.
According to her, voting is still ongoing at 11 centers in the southeastern region of the country, where the Commission has extended the voting hours.
