The 23-year-old finalized a loan agreement on Thursday, extending his stay with the Bundesliga side until June 30. Sancho initially joined Dortmund in 2017, scoring 50 goals in 137 matches, before his 2021 transfer to Manchester United for an initial fee of £73 million.
Sancho netted 12 times in 70 appearances across his first two seasons at Old Trafford before he fell out with manager Erik ten Hag last year.He was banished from the United first team in September after publicly calling Ten Hag a liar.
However, Sancho is hopeful that he can get his career back on track at Signal Iduna Park.Speaking on Thursday, Sancho told BVB.com: “When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’.”I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.
“I can’t wait to see my teammates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, assist goals, score goals and help us qualify for the Champions League.”
Sancho’s loan deal does not include an option for Dortmund to sign him permanently. His current contract with United is due to expire in June 2026.
