Philipa Baafi has made it clear that she did not play an active role in promoting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to the 2008 General elections.
Even though Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo chose her song “Go High” as his official campaign anthem during his election campaign, Baafi clarified that the song was not initially written for the NPP, contrary to popular misconception.
However, it did not communicate a sense of triumph, which struck a chord with the NPP and influenced their choice to utilize it. She also mentioned that although the song was not originally created for political purposes, the NPP contacted her, gained permission to use the song, and paid her appropriately.
