Ghanaian entrepreneur, Dr Daniel McKorley, has shown a keen desire to acquire Nottingham Forest, a team in the Premier League.
On Monday, the CEO of the McDan Group of Companies made this statement during a Joy Thought Leadership seminar held at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
The 52-year-old disclosed that the only teams he ardently supports are Nottingham Forest and Great Olympics, a club in the Ghana Premier League.
Daniel McKorley expressed that he solely supports two teams in the world: Oly, also known as Great Olympics, and Nottingham Forest. I have been a fan of Nottingham Forest since the time when Nottingham was in the third division.
The reason is that I desire to purchase that team. I desire to purchase an image of Nottingham Forest, especially with all the ongoing progress happening.
He further states his hope that the investment made in the local football system will result in a majority of Ghanaian players from the Premier League comprising more than half of the team.
McDan acquires Nottingham Forest and nearly 60% of the players on the team are from the English league and are Ghanaian.
The seminar called “Football Economy: Repurposing our approach to development, the Saudi Arabian experience” focused on how Ghana can learn from Saudi Arabia’s example in developing its football industry.
Experts gathered at the Joy Sports and Joy Business Thought Leadership seminar to discuss this topic.
