Onua TV has refuted claims made by the media that the host of their popular morning show, Onua Maakye, has quit. Blessed Godsbrain Smart, also called Captain Smart, made a statement to his viewers informing them that he was resigning.
However, it appears that he was only making a joke. People mistakenly believed that his statements were an indication that he was resigning from his position. Onua TV has spoken out on its Facebook page, stating that the reports are untrue and should be disregarded completely.
The broadcast in question was described as risky and lacking professionalism by the NMC’s Executive Secretary, George Sarpong, in a statement released on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The statement from the NMC highlighted the station’s requirement to take steps to clean up its broadcast and enhance its ability to meet regulatory standards. The NMC also requested that Onua Radio/TV apologize to the CDS and his commanders for the insults and also apologize to the Ghanaian public for using offensive language.
Onua Radio/TV has been given a deadline of November 19, 2023, by the NMC to fulfill the required tasks and submit proof of their adherence. Failure to do so will result in facing negative outcomes.
