I’m one of the best rappers in Africa – Eno Barony
Ghanaian rap sensation, Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah, well known in the music circles as Eno Barony, has stated that she is one of the best rappers in the continent.
According to the ‘Heavy Load’ rapper, her rap prowess goes beyond gender boundaries, as she believes she’s one of the best rappers who have emerged in this part of the world.
Eno Barony made this statement while speaking in an interview with Abraham Alokore on Asaase Radio’s Between Hours.
“I would not even put myself in the gender scope, but I believe I am one of the best rappers to emerge from Africa,” she said.
Discussing her latest hit song for 2023, titled “Low Key,” the renowned rapper shared insights into some of the verses, adding that the song aims to caution individuals, especially women, to be vigilant about health conditions, specifically those related to sexual activities, as many flock into the country ahead of the festive season.
“I am trying to pass a message. ‘Low Key’ is a message I am trying to pass on to create awareness. First, HIV is real, and there are lots of STDs around, but people fear pregnancies more than STDs,” she said.
Eno to a greater extent called for substantial support for female artistes in Ghana, adding the need for them to work harder to achieve greater success in the entertainment industry.
”When you are female and you find yourself amidst men, you have to work like a 1000 times harder to be seen. As a female, people doubt your talent, so you have to work hard, but some individuals give up along the way. Female artists in Ghana face challenges, which has become like a mantra, but let’s change the narrative and support them,” she added.
