Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who spoke to party representatives in Tumu prior to the November 4 elections, stated that since he had emerged victorious in the Super Delegates Congress across all 16 regions, there is a valid justification for selecting him as the party’s leader.
“If you examine the history and background of our party and the way we have been unfairly criticized, our adversaries spread the false narrative that we vote based on tribal affiliations.” Dr Bawumia stated that on November 4, 2023, we will transmit a communication to demonstrate that our party is not limited to tribalism but rather encompasses the whole nation.
Historical evidence suggests that our party has a tendency to avoid engaging in divisive politics based on tribal affiliations during the process of electing leaders, mainly due to our diverse membership composed of various political factions spanning across different regions in the country.
He explained that the National Liberation Movement from Ashanti, the Northern People’s Party from the North, the Anlo Youth Congress, the Ga People, and the Muslim Association Party joined forces to create the United Party, which has now become the NPP.
