The notorious Chinese mining leader, Aisha Huang, who operated illegally, has been ultimately found guilty of mining-related crimes. Named the ‘galemsey queen’, Aisha received a prison sentence of four and a half years and was also ordered to pay a fine of GHs48,000.
After a trial in the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court with Justice Lydia Osei-Marfo as the presiding judge, she was found guilty of conducting a mining operation without a license, enabling the involvement of individuals in a mining operation, and unlawfully employing foreign workers.
She was found guilty after admitting to the charge of illegally returning to Ghana. The person from China was on trial for engaging in a mining operation without proper authorization, helping others participate in the operation, employing foreigners illegally, and entering Ghana when they were not allowed to do so.
