Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a journalist who broadcasts in Ghana and actively supports women’s rights, is preparing to challenge the Guinness World Record for the longest solo singing marathon.
On December 6, 2023, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum announced her goal of attempting the longest singing marathon. She expressed her readiness to accept the challenge in a concise video shared on her official Facebook account.
According to the challenge rules, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum must sing over 3,200 songs from Ghana within 117 hours, as the previous record has stood at 105 hours since 2012. After the fourth hour, she is only able to sing a song again, and the duration of each song she sings is limited to two minutes.
The Sing A-Thon challenge, led by Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, aiming to break the current Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, began a few minutes ago and will continue until Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The Ghana Tourism Authority has given their official confirmation and agreed to be the host of the Guinness World Records Record Attempt for the Longest Singing Marathon Individual. The event will take place at the AKWAABA VILLAGE, which is situated at Airport in Accra.
